2016 Rocky Mountain Blizzard -10

Adventure? Traction? Flotation? You got it, Rocky Mountain's Blizzard -10 has the big-terrain trampling capabilities of oversize tires with Rocky's trademark trail ride. A lightweight FORM aluminum frame and Rocky Mountain Fat AL fork pair well together to give a sprightly ride that also happens to roll over just about any obstacle in your path. The real stars of the show are the Rocky Mountain SpeedHole rims laced to Rocky Mountain/SunRingle hubs with Kenda's massive 4.5-inch Juggernaut tires. This high-volume, high-fun rubber gives you extra float in loose terrain, and when filled to a mere 4 to 10 psi, provides excellent shock absorption for hits of any size. Rocky Mountain supplies the crankset with a Narrow-Wide chainring for a 1x9 Shimano Altus drivetrain, delivering ample gearing for whatever type of riding you intend to do. With a Rocky Mountain stem, grips, and seatpost, and Tektro mechanical disc brakes to keep you in control, this fat bike is ready for almost anything.

      Comments:

Ok, I'm 50+ and I ride everyday. I have been running my Altitude year round and putting studs on for the winter. The bike is great on ice but still can't plow snow. Hence the decision to get the Blizzard. I knew I would only be using it in poor weather and wanted to limit my investment. Found this on sale (the seller was motivated and dropped the price more - thanks!) and the work fitness program kicked in another $250.00. And the base model is the best looking! After riding two other brands and one for a whole week I read another review about the blizzard. First ride - way fun. Second ride even more fun. Every time I jump on this it is a blast. Just back from twelve k in snow mud and ice (tires beg for studs). Some extra effort and body English required on the DH but very stable. I will wait to learn more about the drive train etc. but for now this is a highly recommended choice for stepping into fat biking. The Altitude will now be thrown into the basement to wait spring.
